Baby Mama (PG-13) Doug Steve Status: In Theaters Listen to Review Would you put your eggs...in this basket?

Synopsis:
Review by Doug Wright Tina Fey stars as Kate, a very successful business woman who, at the age of 37, decides she’s missed out by not being a mom. Single and unable to conceive….even with the help of modern science….Kate decides to hire a surrogate to carry her child. Enter, Amy Poehler as Angie, a working class gal who, for a ton of money, agrees to be the “Baby Mama.” Now, there’s much more at play than meets the eye in this arrangement, suffice it to say that Angie and her whacked out common-law husband have an agenda of their own. Meanwhile, Kate is working very hard to develop a new retail location for her company, Round Earth….a natural foods Company owned by the very eclectic, Barry-played delightfully by Steve Martin. When Kate is scoping out a potential site, she becomes acquainted with Rob, the owner of a local frozen fruit drink store, played by Greg Kinnear. Of course, there’s an attraction but obstacles do stand in their way…including concerns about the new business coming into the neighborhood….a little reminiscent of another film starring Kinnear, “You’ve Got Mail.” “Baby Mama” is really quite delightful with a gaggle of players you really care about and even the more dubious characters are not without their charms. Now, with the focus on fertility and pregnancy, be aware, there are moments that get a little edgy but director, Michael McCullers manages to keep it all at a PG-13 rating. I’m giving “Baby Mama” 3 stars…..but be aware it’s not without an edge and deserves its PG-13 rating
