Difficult travel for the pioneer wagons over a hilly and very crooked road this June 8, 1847. After one particularly difficult descent, Harriet Crow's coat became entangled in a wagon and the front wheel passed over her leg.
Thomas Bullock:
"FORTUNATELY NO BONES WERE BROKEN. SHE WAS MUCH BRUISED, HAD GREAT PAIN, BUT BEFORE NIGHT WAS CONSIDERABLY EASIER."
As they often did, the pioneers worked to improve the road they followed, so that those behind would have an easier time. That evening, a group of trappers visited the pioneer camp on LaBonte Creek. They shared information about the trail ahead, and gave favorable reports about the Great Salt Lake Valley.
