Day 64: Monday, June 7, 1847 (June 7, 1997)

The pioneers of 1847 continued their journey this June 7th in the shadow of Laramie Peak.

Orson Pratt:

"THIS PEAK HAS BEEN VISIBLE TO OUR CAMP FOR EIGHT OR TEN DAYS. IT'S TOP IS WHITENED WITH SNOW."

They ascended some hills and crossed a plateau. From here, they admired the scenery, calling the view "beautiful" and "romantic". During the day three groups of Missouri emigrants leapfrogged ahead of them. They paid little attention and let them go ahead, choosing to halt their day's journey at Horse Creek after traveling 13-miles.

Wilford Woodruff:

"I WENT FISHING WITH A HOOK AND LINE TO SEE IF I COULD NOT GET SOME TROUT BUT I CAUGHT NOTHING."
