Brigham Young remained very sick this July 18 in 1847. Since it was a Sunday, the pioneers were exhorted not to hunt or fish, but to fast and pray for the sick.
William Clayton:
"THE BISHOPS BROKE BREAD AND THE SACRAMENT WAS ADMINISTERED. GOOD FEELINGS SEEM TO PREVAIL AND THE BRETHREN DESIRE TO DO RIGHT."
During the meeting, it was decided most would move ahead tomorrow, get to the valley as quickly as possible to plant seeds. Only a few would remain behind with Brigham Young.
Erastus Snow:
"IN THE AFTERNOON THE PRESIDENT WHO HAD BEEN NIGH UNTO DEATH, WAS VERY SENSIBLY BETTER AND THE EFFECTS OF THE PRAYERS OF THE BRETHREN WERE VISIBLE THROUGHOUT THE CAMP."
