The strong winds of the previous day died down and the pioneers resumed ferrying wagons across the Green River this July 2, 1847.
Norton Jacob:
"TODAY BOTH RAFTS ARE GOING IT AT THE RATE OF FOUR PER HOUR. 45 WAGONS (WERE) FERRIED OVER TODAY."
This bridge on Highway 28 some 25 miles north of the Wyoming town of Green River is adjacent to the site of the Mormon Ferry.
Wilford Woodruff:
"WE SWAM OUR HORSES AND CATTLE OVER THIS MORNING, THOUGH WITH SOME DIFFICULTY."
The day turned extremely hot. Adding to the discomfort, hordes of mosquitos. Some found relief in fishing.
Wilford Woodruff:
"SEVERAL SALMON TROUT WERE CAUGHT AT THE MOUTH OF A SLUE ON GREEN RIVER NEAR THE FERRY, ONE WEIGHING 7 1/4 POUNDS."
