Day 7: Sunday, April 11, 1847 (April 11, 1997)

A south breeze turned April 11, 1847 into a very warm Sunday. Even though it was the Sabbath, the pioneers decided to get all 72 wagons ferried across the Elkhorn River and together just in case the Indians attacked.

Then they traveled along the river a couple of miles and camped.

Heber C. Kimball: "AFTER I ARRIVED IN CAMP, JOHN S. HIGBEE PRESENTED ME WITH A VERY NICE FISH, WHICH MADE US AN EXCELLENT SUPPER."

That evening Brigham Young called a meeting. He and the Apostles would return to Winter Quarters the next morning. Did the camp want to wait here for them to return or continue to the Platte River? They voted to go on.
