So where do you like to eat?
Think about a couple of your favorite places, whether it's fine dining or a good deli sandwich. That's what the Zagat Survey has put together. It's a list of the best restaurants for food, the most popular ones and also good values in dining.
The list for Utah is out, and News Specialist Scott Light has the story.
Let's begin with the most popular places in Utah-- here are some of the top ones, according to Zagat:
- New Yorker Club
- Fresco
- Log Haven
- Tuscany
- Metropolitan
- Mariposa
- Mandarin

Zagat also rates places to go for a good meal at a value.
The list includes:
- Caputo's Deli
- Cannella's
- Siegfried's Deli
- Brick Oven
- Lion House Pantry
- Bluebird Cafe
- Red Iguana

The survey participants consist of 1,980 people who eat out three times a week. The participants are
- 57% women
- 43% men
- 14% in their 20's
- 24% in their 30's
- 24% in their 40's
- 26% in their 50's
- 12% in their 60's or older
Tony Caputo/Caputo's Deli: "EVERYONE ISN'T A FOOD WRITER, SO I THINK IT'S GOOD TO HAVE SURVEYS DONE BY NORMAL PEOPLE WHO GO OUT AND PUT THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY DOWN ON THE TABLE AND THEY HAVE A MEAL AND THEY LIKE IT OR THEY DON'T LIKE IT."
Zagat admits it didn't get to rate some of the newer restaurants in the city.
Also, the Zagat survey has its critics.
Some say its concentration is always in and around metropolitan areas and the survey doesn't reach those great finds in many rural and outlying areas.
Still, it's a good guide and one to pick up if you want to know more about the Salt Lake scene or if you're headed to another city.
