Oct. 5, 2000-- (Belgrade, Yugoslavia-AP)--Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators are sending a clear message to Yugoslavian President Slobodan Milosevic -- give up power.
They've seized control of Parliament and state-run media. Most believe Milosevic was beaten outright in last month's election and is trying to steal it.
Opposition candidate Vojislav Kostunica is asking Yugoslavia's military and police to ensure a peaceful transition of power from Milosevic.
The state-run news agency is now calling Kostunica the country's president-elect.
Yugoslav security forces are showing little willingness to contest the uprising. Some have even been seen joining the protesters.
One of the major unanswered questions as his hold on power slips away is what's become of Milosevic. No one's seen him since today's uprising began.
The U.S. thinks he's still in Belgrade.
