State of Utah Y2K 100 Days Preparedness Program

(Sept. 21, 1999) -- If you think you've heard plenty about the Y2K computer problem, get ready to hear a lot more. The state this morning, kicked off it's 100-day countdown preparedness program.

"Y-2-K...100-Days, 100 Ways to Readiness" encourages Utahns to steadily prepare for January 1, 2000.

Members of the Governor's Coalition say the state's systems are ready, but, they want to help individuals and small businesses prepare. The state Y2K web site averages 15-thousand hits each week, and public concern comes in waves.

Dave Moon/State Chief Information Officer: "PART OF THE PURPOSE OF OUR INFORMATION CAMPAIGN IS TO HELP PEOPLE WHO MIGHT OTHERWISE GET CONCERNED AS WE GO THROUGH THIS LAST LITTLE BIT."
