University Trax Line Opens Saturday

Trax is ready to roll down 400 South in Salt Lake City.

The east-west route from Main Street up to the University of Utah opens Saturday at noon.

And they're throwing a party -- free t-shirts, pens, pennants, and food. It all starts at noon up at the U.

Plus, you can ride Trax all over the valley, all day long Saturday for free.

One major concern with the opening -- officials want to remind and warn drivers to watch out for trains on 4th South -- and realize that trax will run right through several major intersections.

Kris McBride/Utah Transit Authority: "BE AWARE, ANY TIME IS TRAIN TIME IN ANY AREA ALONG 400 SOUTH OR 500 SOUTH AT THIS POINT."

Trax officials are also adding 10 new trains for the new route -- and they're shopping around for a few more to add to the fleet because the cars are packed at times.
