You can now get round-the-clock internet access at home through your cable
company.
TCI Cablevision launched the new service today.
It uses the cable connection already in many homes.
Randall Decker, director of marketing for TCI, says, "You're always on line
with this, never have to dial up, which a lot of people now have two lines...
you won't need that second line."
The service, called "TCI at Home", uses TCI's broadband cable network, and a
high-speed cable modem to speed up internet access.
TCI says the service will provide internet connection at speeds of up to
100-times faster than conventional modems.
So far, the service is only available to Salt Lake residents who live north
of I-80.
