Many Utahns love the heat... others feel like they're going to wither and wilt away. This is only the second day of summer (officially) and lots of people are looking for relief.

I went looking for one of the hottest places I could find. This downtown parking lot is sizzling right now. It's 120 degrees right now down on the pavement., and not much cooler anywhere unless you're in the shade. Everyone who could, spent the day trying to keep cool.

It's prime time for your favorite favorite pool.. but, even the water is getting warm...

Salt Lake is starting to swelter...

Beating the heat is on everyone's mind. Matthew Maxstead/Parks Worker: I GO HOME TAKE A NICE COOL SHOWER, THEN I JUST RELAX IN THE SHADE.

Matthew Maxstead works outside all day...he wears a cap and drinks plenty of water...but, when the mercury nears 100...it's time to get out of the sun.

Take a look at this job. Imagine working with hot asphalt all day. The ducks know how to take a dunk. Dogs can find a drink in the shade. And kids will clamor for snow cones until the weather cools.

Jose Gines is a roofer...one of the hottest jobs around...

Jose Gines: I WAS GOING TO WORK, I DECIDED TO TAKE THE DAY OFF ONCE I SAW THE ON NEWS THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE 96-DEGREES. I DECIDED I'D RATHER BE OUT IN THE PARK WALKING...

His wife Crystal is pregnant and can't stand the heat right now...when she walked outside she swore it was twice as hot as the thermometer reading.

Crystal Gines: IT WAS HOT, TERRIBLE, ANOTHER DAY TO LIVE...ANOTHER HORRIBLE DAY.

Not everyone hates the heat. Some can take it even hotter.

Weston Spencer/Parks Worker: IT'S PRETTY COOL, I DON'T MIND IT THAT MUCH. YOU GET TO WEAR A TANKTOP.

Lehua Mahuna: I LOVE IT BECAUSE I'VE BEEN IN THE SNOW ALL WINTER AND I JUST NEED TO GET OUT AND ENJOY THE SUN.

The sun is fun, but it's a long way to go... before the dog days of summer are done.

Quick reminder for pet owners... When the temperature out here is 78-degrees...the temperature inside your car will soar to 110-degrees in just 25-minutes. It's not the time of year to leave a dog in the car...even for a short time.
