Western Wildfires Already Burning

(Susanville, California-AP) -- Firefighters are hoping to have a raging northern California wildfire fully under control by Monday.

They say they've contained 70 percent of the 43-hundred-acre blaze that's scorched the city limits of Susanville, forcing dozens of evacuations.

Nearly two thousand firefighters are trying to keep the blaze from entering town. Damage is estimated at two million dollars.

In New Mexico, hot, dry, windy weather is hampering firefighters as they battle a blaze that's scorched about 14-hundred acres in mountains in Lincoln National Forest.

Firefighters say they have a 65-hundred-acre blaze north of Reno, Nevada about 80 percent contained.
