Energy Saving Tips

- Demand for power peaks when the temperature rises. It's also in greatest demand from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Avoid laundry, dishwashing, etc. during peak hours.
- Prepare meals by microwave rather than stove.
- Do consecutive loads of laundry to take advantage of residual heat in the dryer.
- Install a programmable thermostat. Turn it up around 78 degrees in the summer, lower 60's in the winter.
- Turn off any unneeded lights, computers, copiers, appliances
- Close blinds, particularly on windows that face south and west.
- Consider insulating, caulking, weather stripping.
- Consider installing new windows in older homes.
Heating and cooling generally are the home's highest energy costs.
