The founding fathers of the notorious Provo Fight Club say they're calling it quits.
In a rare and candid interview they talked about their experiences and their regrets with Central Utah Correspondent Reed Cowan.
He explains the fighters reasons to end the fight club.
Seven of the ten original founders of the Provo Fight Club went before the cameras today with one message: "Fight club is over."
They say any more word out of Utah County about fight clubs has nothing to do with them. And they say off-shoot fight club groups should stop fighting as well.
This is just one off-shoot group Provo Fight Club founders say may have started because of their influence. They tell Eyewitness News the fight between two female students on BYU approved housing was never connected with their club, and that other copy-cat clubs are casting a negative light on something the founders felt was positive at the beginning.
They say any group following in their footsteps should pull back from hosting similar events and do feel some semblance of responsibility for the copy-cat groups that have sprung up.
Zack Kroepel/Co-Founder: "It scares me personally to think that some of these other groups started because of our actions and I know that the responsibility is on our shoulders and I don't like that."
Despite the fact that one of the Fight Club organizers admits to being paid and soliciting money for Fight Club home video, the founders turned a critical eye to the media, saying Fight Club turned into a frenzy because of the media, making Fight Club "no fun." The very reason they're calling it quits.
