Mormon Sea Trek

Aug. 14, 2000

A major chapter in Mormon history will soon be re-created across the Atlantic.

The Sea Trek Foundation plans to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Mormon migration from Europe to America.

The 59 day voyage aboard vintage ships will start in Denmark about this time next year. After visiting several European ports, the ships will sail to New York City.

Celebrations and entertainment are planned at each major port. But aboard the ships, education will be at the top of the schedule.

William Sadleir/Sea Trek Foundation: "WE HAVE TWO PROFESSORS PER SHIP FROM BOTH BYU AND THE CHURCH EDUCATION SYSTEM THAT WILL BE TEACHING THE PASSENGERS CHURCH HISTORY AND MORMON MIGRATION. THAT WILL HELP ALLEVIATE THE BOREDOM THAT WAS SO PREVALENT AMONG THE EARLY PIONEERS."

If you'd like to participate in the voyage, or find out more, log on at www.seatrek2001.com.
