Utah's Hogle Zoo is a great place for family fun, but did you know the
zoo has much more to offer your kids than just the animals behind the cages?
News Specialist Lisa Conley has more in this week's edition of Summer Kids.
Does a python make you a little uneasy?
"Snuggles" might give you the creeps, but the kids couldn't get enough of
him.
"If you want to give him a touch go ahead and do that. Do you want to give him
a touch? It's cool isn't it?"
Linda Middleton is a program coordinator with Utah's Hogle Zoo. She offers
the ultimate zoo experience for kids.
She takes children beyond the cages to see some of their favorite animals up
close.
Next, it was on to the Dragon's Den for a look at a reptile of the larger
variety.
The Komodo Dragon is believed to be a descendant of the dinosaurs.
One named Jack will be at the Hogle zoo through this summer.
Jack's glass enclosure gets you up close and personal.
He's 7 feet long, and a huge hit with the kids.
"Oh man, he's the biggest thing I ever saw in the whole world!" they say.
They especially liked hearing about his poisonous saliva and his diet of frozen
rats.
Next, we visited a class at Music Together. It's a fun, interactive musical
experience for the whole family.
There is singing, dancing, and lots of musical instruments.
"Fabulous opportunity to get with your kids before bedtime sing songs, dance,
get sweaty, so on the drive home they'll fall asleep. You can transfer them to
their bed."
