you are thinking about hiring someone to do home improvements,
beware.
According to a national survey, it's the top category of consumer
complaints.
The survey
covers complaints from the year 2001.
Home improvement contractors were on the top of the complaint
list.
They also topped the list in 2000.
Next on the list was household goods, which involves big ticket
items like appliances and furniture and electronic equipment.
Then, automotive sales and automotive repairs. Coming in at
number five are credit and lending, then business practices
and services focusing on scams where landscapers and other
contractors accepted payment for failing to complete the work.
Number eight is telecommunications.
Bottoming out the list in a three way tie are collections,
pyramids and business opportunities and recreation and vacations.
