Jazz Talk on the Web

Links

(5/19/99)

When the Jazz get into the playoffs, everybody talks about how the teams played... a lot of "Monday morning quarterbacking" going on. And now, with the internet, the conversations are taking on a whole new tone.

Keith McCord has been checking what the net-surfers are saying about the Jazz and Blazers!

Wanna have some fun? Check out Oregonlive.com, and click onto the newspaper's sports forum page.

Jazz and Blazers fans are hurling insults at each other!

"The Blazers lost game one because: A) Rasheed Wallace is an idiot!; And B) The Blazers missed wide open shots down the stretch."

A lot of the notes posted on the site deal with the Blazers dreadful fourth quarter last night. And, on-line Jazz fans are really rubbing it in!

"If the Blazers would concentrate on playing and stop the whining, they might actually get to be a good team some day. As it is, they will always be losers, just like the people in that ugly city they call home."

"Face the music. We drove the bus and took you to school!"

Ouch!

But, there are some zingers coming from Portland fans too.

"Malone and Stockton are a couple of old pansies who just can't play anymore. Stoudemier and Grant will kick their butts, and the Trail Blazers will bomb the Jazz back to New Orleans!"

Yep, the internet has opened up an whole new method for fans to express their thoughts.

Click onto any paper in a city which has a team in the playoffs, and you'll find fans going at it.

And the anonymity of it allows some people to really get rude!

"Get over yourselves, Blazers and fans. When you lose, could it be because the other team is better? You sound like my third grade kid, who never loses unless the other guy cheated!"

Civilized talk? Constructive criticizm? Praise for a well-fought game?

Not here!

"Five points. Two for 16 shooting! Utah didn't win this game, Portland lost it. Choke City baby!"

One game down, and thousands of jabs, accusations and insults to go!
