Drivers in Utah County have missed most of the hassle with I-15 reconstruction.
But now, it's their turn.
The Utah Department of Transportation has many road projects scheduled for Utah County in the next few years.
Central Utah Correspondent Amy Westerby reports from Orem with a preview.
Driving in Utah County is a dream compared to driving in Salt Lake County.
But there are spots here that are always congested and you want to avoid them at all costs.
Now, the Utah Department of Transportation plans to work on those spots and that may slow us all down for a few years.
The first spot set to begin construction is the I-15 interchange on University Parkway.
Starting next summer, crews will turn it into an eight lane single-point urban inchange.
Basically it will look the the I-15 interchange at Bangerter Highway.
Crews will also finish their work on the University Avenue interchange.
That will include widening a section of I-15 in that area.
Finally, crews are already working on widening some sections of Highway 6 up Spanish Fork Canyon.
Those projects will continue for several years.
There is also talk about building another I-15 off-ramp into Pleasant Grove.
That one would be between the 500 East and Lindon exits.
Of course all of these projects, when they're finished, will help us get to our destinations faster and safer.
But until their done, expect delays.
