Fire crews continue to battle several blazes in Northern Utah, following a wild night on the fire lines.
Oquirrh Mountains
A fire in the Oquirrh Mountains in Tooele County threatens several broadcast towers, including the KSL transmitter.
That fire started yesterday evening near the railroad tracks in Erda, and quickly moved near the town of Lakepoint, threatening several homes there. None were damaged.
This fire has burned more than 3,000 acres. Engineering crews from the broadcast towers have been evacuated.
Millcreek Canyon
More than a dozen residents of Millcreek Canyon feel lucky to be back home, after fire forced them to evacuate overnight and came within feet of some homes.
Flames broke out around 2:30 a.m. on the south side of the canyon road, about one fourth mile from the guard station. Winds swept the fire across the road and into the steep terrain.
That fire burned five acres and is now controlled. No homes were damaged.
Logan Canyon
Yet another wildfire keeps crews busy today... this one in Logan Canyon. The fire started shortly after midnight and burned close to some structures. None were damaged.
Sandy
Two homes in an upscale Sandy neighborhood went up in flames, and two others were damaged on Wednesday evening.
Officials are guessing that fire was started by a cigarette or fireworks.
Power Plant
Flames torched wooden pallets and supplies near a Utah Power Plant on North Temple Street in Salt Lake.
Firefighters put the flames out quickly. Damage is estimated at more than $40,000.
Bountiful
In Bountiful, a grass fire threatened several homes Wednesday, but none of them was damaged.
Fire crews say preparation saved those homes from being burned.
