This weekend if you're heading into the mountains, it's important to do some checking ahead of time. There are some places you just don't want to be right now.

With a half dozen fires burning, throughout our state ... it's important to know the areas to stay away from, this holiday weekend.

Tens of thousands of people will be heading to Utah's campgrounds, lakes, mountains and other rural areas.

Specifically this weekend if you're heading into the mountains it's important to do some checking ahead of time..there are some places you just don't want to be right now. We are quickly catching up with our neighbors to the east and to the south.

The fires are too easy to start and far too difficult to put out.

ANY SORT OF PYROTECHNIQUE DEVICE..FIREWORKS AND SORT OF TRACER AMUNITION IF PEOPLE ARE GOING OUT SHOOTING IS PROHIBITED.

Right now six major fires are burning throughout Utah causing evacuations and road closures.

The Mustang Fire burning near Flaming Gorge has shut down Highway 191..it's burned over 13-thousand acres, and is still threatening the town of Dutch John.

The East Fork Fire burning in the Uinta Mountains has closed Highway 150 east to the boundary of the Wasatch Cache National Forest. Consequently many campsites along that stretch are closed.

The Rattle Complex and Black Canyon fires burning 20 miles Northeast of the Green River seem to be the most unpredictable...The Bureau of Land Management is asking everyone to stay out of that area referred to as the Book Cliffs.

So far we've been able to avoid any major structure damage and loss of life, but the season's early.

Mother Nature we can't control, but we can control our own actions.

If your headed to a campground remember campfires are only permitted in designated spots.
