Mission of Utah Federation For Youth

To provide constant support and opportunities with and for young people to measurably improve hope and skills; to prevent substance abuse and violent behavior through community action, leadership experiences, peer support, mentor networking, and environmental and societal stewardship.

Programs

  • PeaceTrees Project

    June 27-July 5, 1999

    For this project, 60 full time youth participants (age 14-19) from urban and rural Utah, and the western United States will:

    • Plant 1,000 seedlings in Millcreek Canyon
    • Plant trees and do bank restoration work at the Jordan River.
    • Complete a pathway
    • Plant water and bank plants to protect against erosion and help fish populations
    • Be trained in environmental practices, communication, conflict resolution, leadership, multicultural success

  • Youth/Community Catalyst Training
    2-day program designed to improve hope & skills, and prevent substance abuse & violent behavior. Includes youth need assessment, addiction dangers workshop, peacemaking workshop, field trip to local water body, parenting classes, parent/community brainstorming, Natl. Guard drug demand reduction climbing wall, etc.

  • Power Parenting
    Workshops and training for parents and families that focus on parenting for prevention, risk and prevention factors, maximizing strengths and resiliency in youth.

  • Monthly Gatherings
    Everyone welcome for activities and parties, skills training and community service projects, event planning, etc.
