Family Support Center: Crisis Nurseries
Parents may arrange to bring their children to the crisis nurseries when no other appropriate child care can be arranged and one or more of the following conditions exist:
- Parents feel they are about to lose control and hurt their children.
- Parents are involved in mental health crises, family violence, drug and/or alcohol abuse.
- Parents are incarcerated and other child care arrangements will be available in a short period of time.
- Parents have medical needs.
- Parents have attempted suicide.
- There is a history of abuse.
- There is a risk that if a crisis/respite care facility is not used, the child will be at risk for neglect, abuse, or abandonment.
It is important to call the individual nursery to make arrangements to leave children. All admissions must first be approved by a Family Support therapist.
