Recognizing & Preventing Gang Involvement
Some signs your child may be involved in a gang:
- Gang slang used in everyday conversation.
- Excessive amounts of clothes in two color combinations, such as blue and black, gold and black.
- Refusing to tell you where they are going or with whom.
- Not wanting you to meet their "new friends."
- Large amounts of unexplained cash.
- A sudden drop in school performance.

Tips to keep kids out of gangs:
- Provide other activities such as sports, hobbies.
- Do not allow gang style clothing.
- Know where they go, and who their friends are.
- Keep in touch with friends' parents.
