Fireworks Restrictions

Salt Lake County

  • West of Bangerter Highway and south of 134th South in Riverton.

  • The entire city of Herriman.

  • South of Highland Drive and east of 1700 East to Pioneer Road, and the remaining area south and east of Pioneer Road in Draper.

  • All areas east of Wasatch Boulevard and south and west of SR U-111.
Salt Lake City
  • All areas east of Wasatch Drive.

  • North of 11th Ave. to City Creek Canyon.

  • Both sides of City Creek Canyon.

  • West of I-215 in Salt Lake City.

  • All City and County parks.
Utah County
  • Fireworks and open fires banned on undeveloped wildland areas in the unincorporated portions of Utah County.
Provo City
  • Fireworks banned in all undeveloped wildlands, canyons, and foothill areas.
Ogden, So. Ogden, North View, Weber County
  • South county line, east of SR89 to Harrison
  • East of Harrison to Mountain Rd.
  • East of Mountain Rd. north to 3300 North
  • North of 3300 North to the Ogden Brigham Canal
  • North of the Ogden Brigham Canal to 1350 West
  • West of 1350 West to Pleasant View Dr.
  • North of Pleasant View Dr. to the north county line
    (restrictions in place until Oct. 1)
Cache County
  • Fireworks and fires banned in all unincorporated areas of Cache County.
Logan City
  • South and east from 4th North and 1400 East
  • North and east from 4th North and 1700 East
BLM

The Bureau of Land Management says: "Increasing fire danger has resulted in a State I fire restriction order for a large portion of the state. The fire restriction prohibits the use of fireworks, as well as open fires or camp fires except in a developed recreation site. Smoking is also prohibited except in an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or in an area which has been cleared of all flammable materials. The use of propane stoves is not prohibited.

The fire restriction takes effect at 12:01 a.m., July 2, 2001 and will remain in effect until rescinded."

The ban includes these areas:

  • Private, state and federal lands in Cache, Rich, Box Elder, Weber, Davis, Morgan, Tooele, Summit, Wasatch and Utah counties, except Manti La Sal National Forest lands in Utah County.

  • Lands of the Wasatch/Cache, Uinta and Ashley National Forests located in Salt Lake, Daggett, Unitah and Duchesne counties, excepting the High Uinta Wilderness Area.
Fireworks are never allowed on federal public land or national parks.

Additional Fireworks Info

  • Only Class C fireworks are allowed.

  • Fireworks cannot travel more than 15 feet in to the air or 10 feet off the ground.

  • Fireworks may be discharged from July 21 - July 27 in approved areas.

  • You must be at least 16 years old to purchase fireworks.

  • Parents are strongly encouraged to supervise their children while using fireworks.

  • The Salt Lake City Fire Dept. recommends keeping spent fireworks in a bucket of water for at least 12 hours before discarding into a garbage can.
