Envision Utah Wants Your Input

(1/12/99)

It's an effort to get you to help plan the future of Utah, and an important phase of that effort begins tonight. It's called Envision Utah -- the giant planning exercise involving those questionnaires in last Sunday's newspapers. News Specialist Stacey Butler explains.

The Salt Lake area has grown dramatically in the last 20 years. It's hard not to think about what the next few decades have in store.

It's that kind of question that supporters of Envision Utah hope Utahns will answer by questionnaire or in a series of public meetings starting tonight.

In case you're wondering, Envision Utah is a coalition of government representatives, private businesses, environmentalists and developers who want your opinion on what Utah should look like by the year 2020.

Envision Utah has spent $150,000 in its ad campaign so far.

Since the questionnaires were sent out on Sunday, the coalition has received over 3,000 responses.

Fourteen town meetings will be held tonight across the Wasatch Front, most of them starting at 7:00 p.m.
