Rocky Anderson Wins SLC Mayor's Race

As Salt Lake City prepares to "welcome the world" in 2002, voters Tuesday decided who will lead the city through that historic Olympic period.

Rocky Anderson won big over Stuart Reid. Anderson got 60 percent of the vote, with 24,252, compared to Reid's 40 percent, or 15,952 votes.

Needless to say, Rocky Anderson's campaign party was a very happy place.

Anderson declared victory around 9:30 Tuesday night. His priority as Salt Lake's new mayor-- making sure everyone in the city pulls together to face the challenges that lie ahead. He says he looks forward to enjoying the diversity of the city in the four years ahead.
