Election Results- Selected Races

Salt Lake voters chose Ross "Rocky" Anderson to lead their city as mayor into the 2002 winter olympic games. Anderson defeated opponent Stuart Reid by a 60% to 40% margin in Tuesday's general election.

Both men are Democrats, but Anderson is viewed as the more liberal of the two. Reid conceded to Anderson about 90 minutes after the polls closed. KSL-TV projected Anderson the winner when the polls closed at 8 p.m.

Elsewhere around the state, voters selected local leaders and decided ballot issues in 223 cities and towns.

In Orem, voters elected Jerry Washburn over Jim Evans for mayor. In Ogden, Matthew Godfrey wins the mayor's seat, defeating Robert Hunter.
