June 29, 2000

The future of the Utah Jazz changed in a moment, during Wednesday night's NBA draft.

In the first round, Utah picked 19-year-old DeShawn Stevenson, of George Washington Union High School, in California.

The Jazz need the 30-point averaging shooting guard. The question now is, how long will it take Stevenson to gain enough experience and confidence to contribute in the NBA?

The Jazz also added a young big man in Kaniel Dickens from Idaho. He's a six-foot-eight forward.
