Consumer Group Issues Best and Worst Toy List

A consumer watchdog group has a few suggestions as you begin-- or continue-- your holiday toy shopping. "The Lion and Lamb Project" just released its sixth annual list of best and worst toys.

The organization promotes toys that provide fun and creative play -- and some patriotism this year. Executive Director Daphne White suggests firemen, police, and rescue worker costumes -- which come with some tools of the trade. She also recommends old-fashioned puzzles.

White says steer clear of this year's "Dirty Dozen" violent toys. They include toys tied to video games such as Rock Em Sock Em Robots and Street Fighter video games.

Daphine White/Exec. Dir., The Lion & Lamb Project: "WE BELIEVE THAT CONSUMERS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE BY VOTING WITH OUR POCKETBOOKS AND NOT PURCHASING PRODUCTS OR SUPPORTING COMPANIES THAT MARKET VIOLENCE TO OUR CHILDREN."

The organization encourages parents buy fun and creative toys that will bring families together.
