Tax Deadline

Thousands of last-minute tax filers are on deadline to get those forms post-marked!

At Salt Lake's Main Post Office on Redwood Road, taxpayers started lining up as soon as the doors opened this morning.

And they're in good company. The IRS estimates 218-thousand Utahns will race the clock today, trying to get their taxes in on-time.

And it seems everyone has a different excuse about why they wait.

Generally, it's the people who owe who put off paying, spending the weekend scrambling to get the forms filled out.

If you need it, the Internal Revenue Service is offer free advice all day long at the Main post office on 2100 South and Redwood Road.

Post Offices Open Late

Twenty-eight Utah post offices will stay open late tonight to help last-minute filers make the deadline.

The Salt Lake City Main post office (1760 W. 2100 S.) also will offer a 5-minute seated massage, in the lobby between noon and 3 pm Monday.

Representatives from the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program will be at the Main Post Office from noon until midnight to provide free tax preparation to individuals with low or moderate incomes.
