Child Locator

Ever have trouble keeping track of your kids in grocery stores, the mall... maybe even sometimes at home? If so, then News Specialist Shannon Ogden has something you'll want to hear.

The new device is called a Child Locator by Fisher Price. It's a portable transmitter/receiver set that helps parents keep track of their children.

Here's how it works:
The little clip-on transmitter goes on your child. You keep the receiver, then if you lose sight of your child, press the button and follow the audible alarm until he or she is found. The longer the button is held, the louder the alarm gets. It has a range of 400 feet, and to make sure you stay within range, another alarm goes off if the link is disrupted. Both the parents' and child's unit use three AAA batteries.

If the Child Locator lives up to billing, Fisher Price should have a gold mine on it's hands.. just as long as toddlers continue to toddle. Another feature-- the device goes off if the youngster falls into water. The Child Locator goes on sale in March for about $60.
