School Buses Inspected For Possible Brake Problems

Sept. 4, 2000

Dozens of Utah school buses were inspected today, after a warning about possible break failure.

The brake manufacturer has alerted school districts across the country about a sensory wire that could be faulty. In some cases, it could knock out the anti-lock brake system.

But districts here aren't taking any chances... they've inspected all the buses that could have been effected.

Chris Peters/Salt Lake City School Dist: WE WOULD NEVER SEND AN UNSAFE BUS OUT ON THE ROAD.

Steve Woods/ Jordan School District: IF THERE'S ANY QUESTION, ANY HESITATATION, ANY CONCERN AT ALL, WE'RE PULLING THAT BUS OFF LINE.

Nationwide, there have been only 16 buses with sensory wire problems, but none of them have resulted in an accident.

There have been no problems with Utah buses.
