Execution Witnesses

(Indianapolis-AP) -- More than 25 people will witness Timothy McVeigh's execution Monday at a federal prison in Indiana.

The witnesses will be brought into rooms with direct views of the execution chamber.

They will include representatives of the victims of the Oklahoma City bombing and their families. Tinted glass will prevent McVeigh from seeing the families, but clear glass will separate him and the other execution witnesses.

The mother of one of the victims says learning the execution would go on as scheduled was like "a big cloud being lifted."

The father of another victim says he wants to be there to show he's "not afraid of McVeigh."

A former member of McVeigh's defense team will also witness the execution. She says watching someone die is "profound."

Other witnesses will include members of the media, government officials and people chosen by McVeigh.
