Our wet windy weather didn't stop two Missouri men from trying to pedal their way into history.
They are attempting to ride across the country on high wheeled bikes -- you know the type folks rode more than a hundred years ago?
They started off on their 1880's replicas from San Francisco a week ago Saturday, rode through Salt Lake Sunday, and hope to make it all the way to Boston.
One of the bikers, James Allen, says, "One hundred fifteen years ago, in April, Thomas Stevens was the first man to ride across the United States on a high wheeled bicycle, and this is the path that was used to do so. Since then, there's been about 20 others do it. Twenty crossed on high wheeled bicycles."
The pair of bicyclists are pumping eastward along I-80.
If you want to check up on their progress, and perhaps setbacks, you can do so the Web, at www.bicycleforum.com.
