BancWest Will Acquire 68 Utah, Idaho Branches

You recall that Zions and First Security announced last month that they were going to merge... and as part of the agreement, they need to divest some of their branches.

Of the 68 Zions and First Security branches to be sold.... 60 of them are in Utah and 8 are in Idaho.

They represent about 2.1 billion in deposits and 66- million in commercial and consumer loans.

That means if your branch is one of the branches being sold... your account will be switched to Bank West. That should happen some time this spring when the Zions-First Security merger goes through.

The 60 Utah branches include 17 in the Salt Lake area, eight in the Provo-orem area. five in Logan, four each in St. George and Park City.... and 22 elsewhere in the state.

After the acquisition, Bank of the West will be Utah's second largest bank.

These branches employ about 430 people... and all of them will be offered jobs with Bank of the West.
