In our daily lives we hear the word "average" used a lot.
Average temperature, scoring average, grade- point average, your average, run of the mill... whatever.
A national magazine has just come out with a survey about the "average" man!
So what does that mean?
We sent Keith McCord to find out.
When it comes to men, what, exactly, makes us just "average?"
Hard to pin down really. This guy looks like a normal average guy;
This guy too.
The June issue of Men's Health Magazine just conducted its annual survey to define the "average" guy.
Findings:
- Mister Average is 34.4 years old
- He stands 5-feet 9 and a half inches tall
- Black hair, brown eyes
- Makes: $36,000 a year
- Exercises less than once a week
Keith McCord, Eyewitness News: THE SURVEY ALSO SAYS THAT THE AVERAGE MAN CAN THROW A FOOTBALL 50-YARDS. I'M ON THE 50 YARD LINE..(THROW)...OK,.WELL, 35. GIVE ME A BREAK, I'M IN A SUIT AND TIE HERE!
Most of the men we talked with are pretty much in agreement with the survey.
KMC:"BLACK HAIR, BROWN EYES..?"
Dave Mullins:"OK".
kmc:"EXERCISES LESS THAN ONCE A WEEK."
I AGREE WITH THAT!"
Bruce Martin:MARRIED WITH 2 KIDS?
YES.
3.3 CUPS OF COFFEE A DAY?
ACTUALLY 2 POTS!
To get a true gauge on what an average guy is-- ask a woman!
These three think 5-feet 9 and a half inches is, well... short!
ALL TALKING:"I WOULD THINK ABOUT 6 FOOT......YEAH HIGHER. I THINK IT WOULD BE HIGHER...YOU WOULD HOPE!"
They think average eyes are hazel; and average salary should be more than $36-grand!
And as far as exercise goes.
Jessica Stussi: "THE AVERAGE MAN IS PROBABLY NOT QUITE IN SHAPE, KIND OF ROLLING OVER ON HIS STOMACH!"
The survey says nothing about average guys having purple and pink hair; or walking down the street without a shirt!
Now, as far as the average woman goes? That's one area that I'll stay away from!
