BYU Wins Cotton Bowl!!! BYU 19 - Kansas State 15 (Dallas) -- Brigham Young won its first-ever New Year's Day bowl game. The fifth-ranked Cougars scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to rally past 14th-rated Kansas State 19-to-15. With the Cougars down 15-to-5 early in the fourth quarter Steve Sarkisian hit James Dye with a 32-yard t-d pass. Then Sarkisian connected with K-O Kealaluhi (kay-ah-lah-LOO'-hee) for the go-ahead points on a 28-yard t-d pass play with three and a-half minutes remaining. K-State drove back to the B-Y-U 12 only to be stopped by Omarr Morgan's interception at the three-yard line with 55 seconds remaining. The Wildcats had scored their touchdowns on a 41-yard desperation and deflected pass as time ran out in the first half, and on a 72-yard t-d pass play from Brian Kavanagh to Andre Anderson. B-Y-U ends the first 15-game season in N-C-A-A Division One history at 14-and-1. K-State finishes 9-and-3.
