Xing - StreamWorks NOW!

TIPS: (if you are having trouble with Streamworks from XingTech Windows vers.)

1.) Make sure you first download the file "swplyr2.exe" or "sw30195.exe" and RUN (execute) it. This will setup/install the program. Downloading the file without executing it does NOT set up the program. You only have to download and install Streamworks the first time you want to play video. Once it is installed, all you have to do is click on any "view" or "listen" icon.

2.) Be sure to follow the install instructions and CLOSE YOUR WEB BROWSER BEFORE INSTALLING.

3.) If you have Microsoft Internet Explorer and are having problems, be sure to down the 3.0 version of the program. This latest version fixes Internet Explorer problems.

4.) Streamworks sometimes is more stable and works better if you set the connection speed to slightly less (or the next step lower) than what you actually have (ie. if you have a T1 try 1400kb/sec. or 128k; if you have a 28.8 modem, try 25kb/sec.). To do this: open the Streamworks program from file manager and set the connection speed in "settings." You can use "other" to type in a slower connection speed. This also fixes audio gliches.

5.) However, if you are using a 14.4 modem, try setting your speed to 14kb/sec. If this doesn't work, try setting your speed to something slightly higher! Try 16kb/sec.

If you get a server error after SEVERAL TRIES, try opening Streamworks, select: file, open stream, and change the stream to: xdma://206.81.130.22:1559/RadioLive.ply

7.) Once Streamworks from XingTech is set up correctly, you do not have to manually open the program to watch or listen to a story. All you need to do is click on the appropriate icon (identified as "audio," "view," or "listen") and the player will launch itself and the story will begin playing.

8.) Note: The slower the modem connection, the less movement you will see when watching a video story. (ie. a 14.4 modem provides display that looks a little more like a slide show than full motion.)

9.) If you had Streamworks 1.0 or 2.0 on your system: Be sure to delete all files associated with the old version of Streamworks from XingTech (vers. 1.0) BEFORE installing the new version (vers. 3.0). They are incompatable and having both installed will result in errors. If you did not do this originally, we recommend deleting everything associated with Streamworks, both old and new, and downloading/installing again.

MAC SYSTEMS:

Mac systems need to manually install the helper app (Streamworks) association for .xdm files. Try the following for Netscape 2.0 and 3.0:
