Follow the progress of seven Utahns who take on the toughest resolution of them all:
To Quit Smoking.



Reality TV has been the hottest thing on television recently, but Reality TV Commercials? It's happening right now on Salt Lake TV Stations, including KSL-TV, as the Utah Dept. of Health tries a new method to combating smoking in Utah. You may have seen or heard of a group of seven Utahns that are trying to quit smoking. A very high-profile media campaign was started in September to detail their successes and failures. New commercials are now running that detail their success and struggles, as well as how quitting smoking has changed their life for the better! Occupation: Wildlife rehabilitator for bats

Number of cigarettes smoked per day: one pack (20 cigarettes)
Number of times tried to quit smoking: approximately 10
Reason(s) for wanting to quit: Would like to ensure that she is around for her little kids as they grow older, Also, her kids ask her to play and ride bikes with them but she cannot because her smoking has inhibited her to the point where it is hard for her to exert much energy without losing breath and becoming tired.

Jeremy Haslam
Age: 24
Occupation: Truck driver
Number of years smoking: 7 years
Number of cigarettes smoked per day: approximately five Number of times tried to quit smoking: 4 times
Reason(s) for wanting to quit: Jeremy is already in the process of trying to quit but would like extra help.

Kenny Johnson
Age: 20
Occupation: works at a Texaco station
Number of years smoking..- 3 years .
Number of cigarettes smoked per day: 20-25 cigarettes
Number of times tried to quit smoking: 3 or 4 times
Reason(s) for wanting to quit: Kenny's fiance is expecting and he would like to quit before the baby is born. He does not want his child to see him smoking. Kenny and Mark Evans are best friends and are going to try to use the "Buddy System" to help them quit smoking.

Reason(s) for wanting to quit: Barbie recently adopted a little girl and would like to be able to play, run etc. with her without feeling out of breath. She also wants to be around long enough to watch her daughter grow up and graduate from high school.

Number of times tried to quit smoking: three times
Reason(s) for wanting to quit: Bob is a runner and can definitely feel the effects that smoking has had on his body. He wants to quit smoking before it is too late.
