Nominations Open For Olympic Torchbearers

Today is the first day Olympic enthusiasts can apply to carry the 2002 Flame.
Between now and April 30th, Utahns can nominate or apply for the Torch relay by visiting Coca-Cola displays at participating Smith's grocery stores and 7-Eleven locations.
Organizers are looking for 11,500 runners to carry the flame.
Approximately 2,500 torchbearers will be selected nationwide by Coca-Cola.
Anna Clark/Coca-Cola: "WE ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO RECOGNIZE THE INSIRATION IN THEIR LIVES AND NOMINATE SOMEONE TO CARRY THE OLYMPIC TORCH AS IT PASSES THROUGH UTAH ON ITS WAY TO THE OPENING CEREMONIES."
Each torchbearer will carry the torch for one fifth of a mile.
The Olympic Torch Relay begins on December 4th in Atlanta.
It will travel through 46 states and will arrive in Salt Lake on February 8th.
