Nov. 4, 2000--
It appears voters will support increases in taxes for further development of light and commuter rail.
Favor raising taxes for commuter rail? (Salt Lake County Residents)
Salt Lake County residents favor increasing sales taxes by one-quarter of one percent to build a commuter rail line between Salt Lake and Weber County.
Favor raising taxes for public transportation? (Davis and Weber County Residents)
Same question for residents of Davis and Weber Counties: and the numbers there exactly the same. That quarter-cent sales tax would also be used for light rail in Davis and Weber Counties.
Initiative A (English Official Language)
On the ballot initiatives:
"English as the Official Language" of Utah--that's Initiative A: 66 percent say YES; 29 percent say NO.
Water Fluoridation (Salt Lake & Davis Counties)
--And, should the water in Davis and Salt Lake Counties be fluoridated?
61 percent say YES; 32 percent say NO.
Margin of error about 5 percent in this poll, conducted by Dan Jones and Associates.
Sunday, KSL and the Deseret News will have the final poll numbers for the major county, state and federal government races.
