Tom Kirkland joined KSL Television in 1998 as the lead Sports Anchor for Utah's number one rated Eyewitness News. Along with his anchoring duties, he also provides play-by-play commentary for BYU football and basketball games. Tom was promoted to KSL 5's Sports Director in 2000.
Tom brings impressive national credentials to KSL-TV. Prior to arriving in Salt Lake, Tom was an anchor and reporter for Fox Sports News, a cable sports network. There he solo anchored Fox Sports News Tonight. Tom also spent over a decade at CNN, where he honed his broadcasting skills co-anchoring Sports Tonight, Sports Late Night, and Sports Saturday and Sunday.
Tom is a graduate of Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. In 1982, he received a Master of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University.
He and his wife, Susanne, are the proud parents of two children: a daughter, Alexey Elizabeth, and a son, Tristan Thomas.
